I first discovered mr nixons beautiful homewares in stockholm and their coolness fooled me into thinking that it was scandi product design... but no it's all british (hurrah) and my go to when I'm looking for gifts for my interior obsessed friends. the candles are to. die. for.
the tea light holder above is made from photo etched brass and is the perfect addition to my coffee table by night. his products are horrendously addictive so be warned.. you'll find yourself coming up with all sorts of reasons why you absolutely need a copper tape dispenser.
from copper to brass and stone the materials are simple but beautiful, if you're a fan of minimal accessories chances are you'll love his ranges. at the minute he's created a 'pop up' department store in selfridges called the multiplex (except it's not your average department store- this is a multi-sensory experience that brings together design, fashion and technology.) it's running until oct 15th and definitely worth a gander if you're in the big smoke.

call me crazy but shopping for homewares is as (if not more fun) than clothes shopping for me..

the last few months have been really hectic for me.. I've spread myself too thin between the tasks on my to do lists so I've struggled to maintain a happy balance in my personal life. it's been a good learning curve for me though and I'm beginning to learn that if I say no.. well, the world doesn't end (and I'm a lot less stressed)
when I'm feeling a little frazzled nothing picks me up like an a few hours wandering around some of my favourite vintage and thrift shops with james. a few weeks ago I found this old china to add to my growing collection.. I didn't want it to be destined to only see the inside of my kitchen cupboards so I've used some as planters for my baby succulents! I'm so pleased with how they've turned out and it reminded me of how much I've missed little creative home projects.
I also picked up some mirrors (some are so old and damaged I'm not sure if I can salvage them but they're going to be a little rescue project going forward) nothing makes me happier at the moment than planning little projects to cosy up our home. god knows I'm excited to finish off the little tasks that have been niggling at me and now the sun's arrived I'm desperately aware that the garden is quickly transforming into a urban jungle..
I have so many ideas I can't wait until I'm freed up at the end of the month so I can work on some new DIY's, finally get round to showing you my new home and possibly having THAT day off where I do nothing but watch games of thrones.. hurrah!
I'm also pretty excited to reacquaint myself with the snooze button.. you have been missed old friend.

random crap notebook by happy jackson
I found myself buying lots of random little things when I went to cornwall recently.. I just couldn't help myself! one of my favourites items is (surprise surprise) another notebook for my collection that I spotted in newquay! I've seen this one online quite a few times so I finally caved and added this retro lunchbox into the mix as well. I always find myself obsessing over shells when I'm at the seaside so I picked up a few more of those too.
lips telephone
this is my most treasured charity shop find EVER. I literally squealed when I spotted this in a scope charity shop in penzance for only £4 and the best part? it still works! eeeep!
I've spotted these bowls on urban outfitters before so I recognised them in a little gift shop in padstow. I'm a fiend for buying china so I'm struggling to find a home for these new arrivals. I think I might have a de-clutter of my bedside table and use them to stash skincare in. I found the plate in another charity shop near st ives (I'll use this with some of my old china cups as I love to mix and match patterns.)
I found these recycled purses at the eden project and absolutely loved them! the shell jewellery box is pretty tacky so it was an instant winner for me, I also found this tin that I'll use to store trinkets or business cards in.
postcards
I wasn't going to buy this fabric lampshade but I changed my mind at the last minute and I'm so glad I did! there was quite a few colour variations but I opted for this slightly oriental looking design. I still have lots of frames to hang so I picked up some more postcards to frame from the galleries in st ives.
as nice as looks on my desk..I shall get around to hanging it in my dressing room (eventually)
hope you're all having a lovey bank holiday!
