this pretty selection of christmas gifts arrived at my door.. awww santa you little rascal!
if you're a regular traveller there's a wealth of gifts to be found at world duty free so they sent me a few ideas for anyone who's jetting off this festive season..
my personal favourite is this clarins set; I've used this kit before and it was a real life saver on holidays! they're just the right size to take on the go and some of my all time favourite products are included. there's a range of face and body products so whether your skin is in need of a little hydration or you've just overindulged the night before you're pretty much covered.. winner!

I have a fair few mini nail polish collections and I can't help but like this type of present (you can't really go wrong with a classic selection of red and nude polishes right?) this is my idea of a christmas crowd pleaser.
they're also perfect for popping into handbags for top ups on the go... definitely one I'd buy for my friends!

I love things that come in tins! to me they just seem more special? (plus I use them as storage after I've used up the products!) I've used several of these hand creams before and loved them; I'd happily buy this for my mum or sister as it's a present that I know they would enjoy using too.
there are four different hand creams in this set: dry skin shea butter, velvet rose 4 reines, cooling hand cream and cherry blossom.. yum!

well this one was lucky to last until I photographed it.. a mini bottle of prosecco!
a perfect little stocking filler if I've ever seen one, there's also some festive tea which smells like christmas cake.. I'll be popping the kettle on shortly!

eeeeep lots of little polishes!
I don't know where my love of 'mini' things began (probably in the form of party food ...hello dinky sized nibbles) but there's something I love about pint sized versions of the originals.
cue this lovely little set from OPI; created especially for QVC its called the discovery set and it has a taste of everything OPI has to offer! for anyone who isn't familiar with their best selling products this is a treat..
first up is a selection of autumnal shades with a good quality formula and coverage that I've come to expect of OPI polishes. I wore a few of these while I was away in iceland as they were perfect travel size companions (the deep burgundy called in the cable car pool and the navy glitter alcatraz rocks glitter are my favourites)

now for me this is the most exciting part of the kit by a mile... the nail treatments and finishes
I'm often asked what products I use and I'll always include nail envy in my recommendations; its the only strengthener I've used for the last year.
this kit has three versions of nail envy- the original, cool pink and matte. previously I had a real issue with peeling nails, after a few months of solid nail envy use my nails were in much better condition (you don't see instant results but after incorporating it into my routine it really made a difference long term)
theres also a rapid dry top coat- I also have this in the full size and it's a nice shiny finish that dries quickly (I prefer seche vite but it's a happy 2nd place)
the last item and the one thing in this pack that I have totally fallen for is the avoplex oil, it smells incredible and is the nicest cuticle oil I've used... I'll definitely be repurchasing this in the full size.
the discovery set is perfect for trying out lots of new things in one fell swoop.. I do like the nail varnishes but my inner nail care geek finds the nail envy and oils easily the most fun part of this selection.
If you've been looking to try out their bestsellers this is a good way to dip your toes in the water and see what you like before investing in the larger versions (it would also make a great gift but I bet your bottom dollar you won't want to part with it!)

I've always liked OPI polishes (particularly the names) but I do tend to overlook them in favour of models own or illamasqua. I'm not sure why, mainly habit I think? the formula of their polishes is really good so I'm determined to invest in a few more and rectify the situation!
today I'm wearing elephantastic pink an OPI polish that was sent to me by fragrance direct, it's a gorgeous colour and the formula is a beauty. I hesitate to describe it as 'salmon' pink ....but it's the word that springs to mind so I guess I will!
I wouldn't normally be so eager to share a simple swatch post with you but I'm quite astounded by the prices on their website, they have dozens and dozens of OPI polishes available and they're only £3.99, did anybody else know this...??

I feel a bit robbed thinking of all the ones I've brought in boots at full price! although they don't have many essie colours available at the minute so your choice is limited.
I have to say I'm deeeelighted (but slightly concerned for my debit card) that I can get hold of OPI at such a bargain price. apologies for those of you not so interested in nail polish but this has been a little revelation for me aha!

here's a round up of my latest nail art efforts! the glitter nails are really easy, brush on a clear base/top coat and sprinkle on fine glitter. I got mine from a craft shop, they sell them in all colours and sizes for craft projects and are pretty cheap to buy. just repeat the clear polish and glitter layers until you're happy with the result. I graduated mine but you can cover the whole nail if you like!

these gold edged nails are really cute, I just painted on models own top turquoise as a base and once it had dried used models own gold digger to accentuate. to get the sharp line just mark off the area with some sellotape, it keeps the edges between the two colours nice and neat!

these are my favourite nails I'm still wearing them today. I used two coats of OPI white polish as a base, once that had dried I brushed on a coat of clear polish and stuck on assorted jewels whilst the clear polish was still wet (just do one finger at a time!) I used several glitters, shiny disks and clear diamante, use an orange stick or tweezers to help stick them on.
you can get these stick on jewel decorations in general nail art kits and just mix and match them on your nails. use plenty of clear top coat to finish and they should last a while! uber pretty and they really sparkle on a night out...
