DIY brown sugar lip scrub

DIY organic sugar lip scrub @burkatron

sugar scrubs are really simple and so effective. i have chapped lips like 99% of the time and there's only so much lip balm i can apply especially if i'm considering sporting lipstick (which forever clings to any uneven patches on me!)

one of my favourite products for tackling dry lips are the scrubs from lush, i decided to try making my own version using ingredients i dug out of my kitchen cupboards.

i promise this is a DIY your inner child will enjoy...

DIY how to make lip scrub @burkatron

to make this all natural lip scrub you'll need:

brown sugar

simply add a few tablespoons of sugar into a small bowl, pour in a little honey and mix until you get a consistency you like.

i like my lip scrub mix to be quite dry so i played around until i was happy. initially i used course brown sugar but the grains were a little big so i recommend you use regular brown sugar!

reach for the scrub whenever your lips are feeling rough or dry and you'll be amazed at how good it is at soothing them- plus it tastes great!

next time i'll add coconut oil in with the honey to make a lip scrub/balm hybrid! sounds like a winner right?

i kept mine in the fridge for about 2 weeks- you'll want to replace it after that cause it's too damn easy not to make another batch!

back soon

  2. Didn't realize how simple this is! And probably a lot cheaper in the long run than buying pre-made scrubs! Seeing as I live for my lip scrub I'll try and make this for future use! :)

  3. My lips are always so dry - I love using lip scrubs, thank you! I also like to put vaseline or a moisturizing lip balm on after to really sink in the moisture.
