snake boots | topshop

so, todays post is a mini one as I just wanted to share my latest purchase. before I dive into my annual winter coat hunt (yes I'm determined to find 'the one' this year) I wanted to get myself some boots.

my main requirements this season is block heels and texture- either snake effect or 70's suede. I'm super pleased block heels are back, as let's face it I'm pretty lazy so it takes a comfy heel to drag me away from trainers. I did a little dance when I found these topshop boots as they're a great dupe of the KG ones and a fraction of the price.. they're nearly out of stock online but definitely worth keeping an eye out for. the green version is still available and I've linked all my favourite 70's inspired high street footwear below if any of you are a-hunting for some too..

happy shopping!

mesh top: asos
bandeau top underneath: topshop
faux leather shorts: little mistress (c/o)
semi transparent shopper: topshop
leopard print pumps: daniel footwear (c/o)

oh em geee the weather has been so up and down this week! I've gone from hiding under umbrellas during thunderstorms to whacking out my bikini in an attempt to get my tan on in the garden.. crazy.

I'm pretty keen to start wearing some of my summer wardrobe so when I woke up to sunshine last week I took these faux leather shorts from girls on film out for a whirl! I wanted these to be quite wearable (read.. not skintight/bum cheek peekage) I often find shorts hard to find as I'm between sizes but to my delight they're pretty darn perfect! I paired them with my new mesh top as I liked the mix of textures (I'm so glad I nabbed this asos one because the zara one I wanted sold out before I could get it!) the black shopper was a topshop sale buy, I wasn't sure if I even liked it at first but the semi transparent perspex won me over ..well that and the fact I can fit my laptop inside!

these leopard print daniel pumps are just gorgeous in the flesh, seriously babin'. I know you've probably twigged I'm a real flats/converse kinda girl so I'm always looking for cool slip ons to wear.. these are going to be an absolute staple for me with my skinnies, hurrah!

happy bank holiday guys!

back soon

ted baker dress: asos (c/o)
satin bomber: american apparel
feather bag: river island
fedora: topshop

I've been so excited to share this post with you guys! I was lucky enough to be picked as a ted baker advocate for asos recently- eeeep! the challenge was to style up some of the gorgeous new ted baker ss14 collection from day to night!

I had the theme day out to style which was easy peasy thanks to this safiya dress..  the jungle orchid print is beyond beautiful! it's neoprene fabric is incredibly flattering (ted baker I salute you) and those clean cut lines make it a real classic piece.

even though it's a lot smarter than what I'd normally wear on a daily basis it's a really versatile dress that's simple to dress up with heels to take it through to the evening. I decided to pair it with a satin bomber and these lovely ted baker pointed flats for my casual daytime look and I just switched it up by adding a leather jacket and heels for the night.

I have a wedding coming up in a few months and I can safely say I think this is what I'll wear.. it's perfect for a sunny afternoon celebrating with friends.

which is your favourite look..? I think mine is definitely the more casual one (no surprise there!)

despite never setting foot on the slopes in my life I'm pretty excited about this sweatshirt. ellesse have launched a new heritage collection exclusively with asos (think oversized boyfriend tee's and sports luxe track jackets.. but with a cool 90's feel)

this ski print number has a distressed finished so even though it's brand new it has that 'I found it in a vintage shop' feel. it's highly likely the closest I'll come to taking part in any sports this year so I'm enjoying this moment of skiing enthusiasm.

I thought I'd keep with the theme so wore a vintage denim shirt underneath along with the most hated (but essential) part of my current wardrobe.. the dreaded black tights.

I also wore a beanie for the first (and possibly the last time) yes, I can conclude that they make me feel like a garden gnome...

longline animal faux fur: asos (on sale)
vintage tiger sweater: oxfam
wing ring: c/o jana reinhardt
necklace: urban outfitters
michael kors watch c/o shadestation
jeans: topshop
slip ons: kurt geiger

after an shameful amount of 'animal print faux fur' google searches I finally found this little number on asos and added it to my christmas list. I don't know what started this quest for leopard print (I promise kat slater isn't becoming my go-to fashion inspo for 2014) but now I have some in my wardrobe I can finally consider that itch scratched.

I finally got my mitts on some kurt geiger slip on's* and they've been on my feet ever since (sending santa a hi 5.. you did good bearded one) they're so comfy they'll probably remain there for some time.

*also known as plimsolls but that word just reminds me of PE class and let's face it nobody needs to revisit that particular horror story..

writing wish lists always leads to trouble..

I made the fatal mistake of posting a january sales wish list and voila I'm now the happy (& slightly guilty owner of the above collection) I managed to nab a few sale steals including the cambridge satchel which is still on sale (consider yourselves warned) a karssen sweater and a tulle layer dress which I had my eye on a while back. (possibly not the most appropriate winter attire but I figured I could layer it up with some slouchy knitwear in the spring!)

have you bought any nice things in the sales this year?

hello comfy dress!

that's right it's another asos smock dress (send help)

I just can't get enough of these over sized swishy numbers. this one is a little more subdued than my usual colour scheme but the stripes won me over and I love any item of clothing that I can literally throw on!

I'm not sure what happened but I managed to colour coordinate an outfit head to toe for the first time ever.. hurrah! (ok I'll admit it was a pure accident but I'm glad I managed to get a picture of this special occasion)

the satchel is from primark, one day I will upgrade cambridge one (I've been saying this for at least a year) the pineapple hair was simply down to me being lazy 'cause it's the weekend!

hurrah the sun is out.. about time you little rascal!

I can't remember the last time I was so ridiculously excited to put on a dress.. sweet jesus the extended winter has ruined me.

I do have a real soft spot for my new peachy number! super loose, laid back and no worrying about sharing my rear with passers by (always a bonus) as it's fairly long and demure. I've always loved smock dresses so one look at the asos website and it was game over for my inner hippy and I.

it doesn't look as floaty in these pictures but trust me it's quite swingy (is that even a word?) and over sized at the waist when you try it on! perfect if you've just ordered yourself a large pizza.. who me?

quick outfit post today! this is actually one I wore while I was away, I thought I'd best share it before the summer when pictures of me sporting a woolly hat led you to question my sanity!

this is my usual wet day get up, enough layers to qualify as a walking onion & a hat to stop my hair from resembling an 80's perm. I think I look slightly like a hobo in this outfit, but dammit it was comfy.

the weather is due to be glorious tomorrow; I've been raiding the depths of my wardrobe to resurrect long neglected summer dresses... hip hip hurray! I'm even splashing out on some fake tan this evening (somebody stop me I'm going wild..)
hat: topman
navy boyfriend coat: primark
yellow check scarf: h&m
pink mohair jumper: h&m (ss12)
jeans: topshop baxter
racoon print shirt: asos
heart collar clips: c/o chelsea doll
leather satchel: topshop
boots: office

I'm best be off as I have my niece and nephew visiting. I've dug up 6 worms, constructed a nest for a ladybird and I'm now attempting to build a den in the back garden. I feel like a poor mans david attenborough... wish me luck!
