modern vertical garden IKEA hack

i adore pottering in my garden, as soon as the weather allows i can't stop myself from DIY-ing it every summer. we've just painted all of our fencing black which was a big change but we love it (phew) it's more modern and the perfect backdrop for our plants and furniture which really pop against the dark backdrop.

i don't have a lot of planters in my garden right now (they're not the most practical thing with a toddler who wants to explore EVERYTHING) but i really wanted to try my hand at growing more stuff this year so a vertical garden really appealed to me!

they're perfect for smaller gardens or balconies, i've mostly planted herbs into mine which are thriving so far. i've also started growing vegetables for the first time this summer (i've made a few raised planters for the veg which i'll share on instagram) so far so good, not disasters yet but i won't be super confident about it until i have something edible to report aha!

this is such a simple project and it's made with a rather unusual material.. IKEA bed slats! if you're considering trying this one out yourself go check out the tutorial i've shared over on hunker.. it's crazy easy and i love how it turned out.

back soon
