I'm a huge fan of those lace trim shorts that have been floating around pinterest, I love pinterest for DIY inspo (and the endless snaps of delicious food... mmmm) I was originally intending to customise a pair of shorts but I changed my mind an opted for a super easy update for some of my crop tees instead.

this little crafty project is really quick and perfect for beginners! you'll just need an old tee, some lace trim and a needle and thread..

I used a meter of lace trim for mine, it's easy to get hold of online or in your local haberdashery/craft department (I picked up this one in john lewis along with a few other designs!)

if you're using a regular length tee simply chop off the bottom to the desired length.. taa daa one crop top! turn the tee inside out and lay the trim along the bottom edge, use pins to secure then sew into place.

once you've sewn the trim into place, remove the pins, turn the tee the right side out and  you're done....easy huh?

well this is more of a what I wore tonight (rather than today) post.. this is my new popping out for a 'quick' cocktail frock. 

I think I've been reading too many french fashion blogs recently because I'm growing increasing fond of black (shock horror!) this classic black filigree lace number from the lovely people at red label fashion appeals to my love of the gothic trend whilst still being princess pretty (if I had a big tiara I'd be tempted to wear it... shucks, I guess a bowler hat will have to do!) 

I added a little studded collar that I picked up in the topshop sale and my belt of the month (seriously I can't stop wearing it.. send help!)

occasionally I come over all whimsical and want to wear flowers in my hair.

I brought this dress in the primark sale last year and I never really knew what to wear with it! I rummaged through my wardrobe and put together this outfit in a moment of pure girlishness. 

I'm really enjoying the late summer sunshine but I have to admit part of me is secretly looking forward to the chill setting in so I can throw on my cosy knitwear and curl up in front of the fire (until then I'll carry on wearing flowers and tea dresses until I'm forced to pack them away for the winter.. sigh)

holding up my hands here.. I've become obsessed with jars! kilner jars, jam jars you name it I'm trying to make something with it. I went looking for some last weekend and found a pack of these adorable mini screw top jars in dunelm 

I wanted to make some tea light holders and they work out about £1 each (not bad hey) I came up with a few versions and I'd thought I'd show you a couple!

lace decorated!

easy peasy, just wrap a small piece of lace trim around the jar and glue into place, I also wrapped some string around to decorate. I think these would make cute table decorations if you wanted to add some handmade name tags!

fabric lined!

these are fun because they're slightly messy aha! take some fabric remnants and cut into inch wide strips (make the length an few cm more than the jar height)

use a brush and paint your strips of fabric with pva glue. place the wet strips inside the jar with the pattern side facing out. work your way around the inside of the jar covering the glass completely with fabric. trim off any excess!

once dry pop in your tea light and you have some cute handmade little lanterns!

(safety officer moment) don't leave lit candles unattended, I don't want any fire hazards on my watch peeps!
