DIY monogram planter

my inner child had a whole lot of of fun with this DIY... I think the last time I grew cress was back in primary school!

the combination of giant initials with a novelty twist was too much temptation for me. I knew I was going to grow something in these wooden letters when I first spied them.

to make these fun planters you'll need:

compost
seeds

I opted for cress as it's super simple and I liked the idea of growing something lush and green. you could however grow whatever you like- succulent seeds would be great planted up in one of these letters as they don't like a lot of water. unlike the common cardboard letters you can pick up in craft stores these are much stronger but I'd still advise not soaking them too heavily..

I filled up my letter with compost, sprinkled over my cress seeds and sprayed it each night with a water bottle.

I was actually planning on sharing this DIY with you next week but the cress grew so darn quickly it was ready after 4-5 days!

I think they'd be a great table centerpiece for parties, you could grow whole words or names and they're simple enough for children to make too!

the nice part about using initials is you can personalise this project, switch out the cress for flowers and they'd be adorable for weddings, I'll probably make a floral version and pop up a quick post in the coming weeks to show you..

do you like novelty projects like this?

back soon!

  3. These are such a cool idea! My and my hubbys first initial is both Z so we've made a theme of it in our home with Z ornaments etc so these would be a perfect quirky addition!
