diy | copper magazine rack

hands up if you like to hoard old magazines.

I have a big old stash of mags that I can't quite bring myself to throw away, I was keen to find a nifty storage solution and discovered a wonderful tutorial on the merrythought that looked so incredibly simple I was inspired to try it myself.

you'll need a length of copper pipe (you'll find it in the plumbing department of your local diy shop.) you'll also need a pipe cutter, a hook and some string.

cut 3 equal lengths of copper pipe, mine are 35cm. for the hook I just used an old plastic ring that I sprayed with copper spray paint.

cut a long length of string and find the centre- grab it and hoop it through the hook a few times to secure it, you should have two long ends of string dangling that you'll feed though the pipes.

feed the string through each of the 3 pipes until it comes through the other end (working left to right, right to left etc) repeat for each pipe, when you get to the last pipe you'll tie the two ends together- slide the pipe along and tie a knot where it will be hidden.

now you can hang the magazine rack, you'll need to play around until the pipes sit level by adjusting the strings.

pop on some magazines, all done!

I'm so happy I discovered this tutorial, copper and industrial materials are two of my favourite things and I adore how minimal this looks on my wall!

if only the rest of my home was as tidy...

back soon!
