new in | crosley record player

let me introduce you to my new baby.. the crosley.

I can't tell you how much I love my record player, I'm still pinching myself that I have it (it was a gift from my wonderful brother!)

...it's not only produced a lot of excitement in our house but also reawakened my love of music!

I'm a restless soul so I don't really sit down and listen to music much! it's usually just snatched time with iPhone play lists whilst I'm out and about.. the novelty of having a record player makes you appreciate those albums you keep meaning to catch up with all over again. I now find myself playing records all. the. time.

I've bought a few albums already and borrowed some to tide me over until others arrive (..I promise you'll get them back claire) I'm also planning a trip to some charity shops locally that sell vinyl to grab some bargains!

the crosley itself is just beautiful, I love the design and the colour (there are some A-MAZING ones here!) one thing I would note is that on first play it was a little jumpy and I was terrified it was scratching my lana del rey vinyl (oh the horror) but luckily it didn't! it just seemed to need a little time to warm up.. after 3 or 4 songs any occasional skipping had stopped.

I'm not sure where it will live permanently yet.. it's currently in our bedroom, yesterday it was in the kitchen and tomorrow it will probably be back in the living room! I can't wait to have people over for drinks and nibbles so I can have it playing away in the background. the speakers are actually quite impressive for such a small player!

if any of you know any good sites for vinyl please let me know.. I'm on a mission to build up a little library!

do you like it too.. would you be tempted to invest in one?

  2. Such a beautiful record player! I got given a record player earlier this year, and it's so fun collecting the records and hunting around car boots for new ones!

  3. I love it, what a fabulous colour too. I doubt I'd play it though (I own no records, though my Dad has heaps-none of which I'd like to listen to). I have music in my ears all day, especially while blogging, keeps me calm.

  5. That is absolutely gorgeous! I've been wanting a typewriter that colour for ages so if I ever get that I might just have to get a record player to match...

  9. I'm a record junkie (I have over 1000 of them and two original vintage record players) but I have to be honest, you have to be very careful with Crosley's, they have a bad rep in the bigger vinyl community - they infact may be damaging your records because of the needle they use. So while they look super pretty, just be careful with it. As for good places to buy records - discogs, ebay, indie record stores, estate sales.

    1. WOWZA!! i have a way to go to catch you up lady ;)
Yes- I heard that!!! I was worried after reading some of the reviews so I tested the vinyls again on another player though and no damage- maybe I've been more fortunate than others? I'll keep an eye on it going forward and thanks for the shopping tips!! :) xx
