I think there's one wardrobe essential that all girls have and that's denim shorts. daisy dukes, cut offs, boyfriend, whatever the style we all have a pair and every year the hunt for the perfect denim shorts continues. 

this year I'm thoroughly in love with my h&m boyfriend shorts, mostly for the super casual fit, I'm not particularly fond of fighting to get my derriere into super tight butt skimming shorts!

shorts are my go to summer essential, once I find the perfect fit I can style them up or down depending on the occasion. I wanted to show you how you can style one basic pair of shorts and change the look using simple accessories...

boho:

this is one of my favourites looks, I will literally pull together whatever I find in my wardrobe! I don't ever try to coordinate my clothes usually so it's easy to pick and choose.

classic

for me nothing beats stone wash and white, its a classic summer combination. here I just paired a simple white vest with pumps. I accessorised with leather and gold for a understated feel, I'd wear this on holiday (or if we ever get any sun here in the uk!)

biker

this is one of my festival rock looks, it's a simple look to pull off! leather and fringe with plenty of bangles to finish!

smart casual

my other wardrobe essential is the blazer, wearing a blazer immediately makes any outfit a little more chic so it's an easy way to dress up a pair of shorts. I'd wear this to go out for dinner with friends in the evening. it's still casual but if you swapped the straw bag for a smart clutch and heels you could easily head out for cocktails.

I love vintage clothes! I picked up this sweater in manchester recently. I just style this look with lots of vintage brooches and retro sunglasses for a mix and match feel.

I have to admit the majority of my outfits are rather casual, if I can avoid looking like I'm tottering around in my mothers shoes I will! I do wear a lot of bright colours but my staple wardrobe items tend to be in white and grey, nothing beats a cute pair of jeans and a crisp white tee for me.  

I love the new topshop jersey dress I'm wearing here! it's so versatile and easy to wear on a day to day basis. casual, comfortable and exactly the kind of thing I'd throw on to go out to the shops or to grab a coffee with friends...
