in case you missed the news I've got the keys to my new house and the renovations have began... EEEEEP!!!!!!
I'm half excited/half terrified at the amount of work that the boy and I have to do over the next month so if I'm a little absent on social networks and on here then it'll be because I'm wrestling a power drill... the joys!
on the plus side I'm really looking forward to doing some DIY's and crafty house-esq projects once we're in so hopefully I'll have lots of little posts to come over the next few months!
this is a little outfit I put together when I raiding the wardrobe, you may recognise the dress from an older post (when I first got it the weather was pretttttty darn chilly so I layered it up with high collar shirts) now it's warm enough to wear alone I took advantage as it's a really comfortable little number. I'm wearing some pointed flats that I unearthed a while back, they're so incredibly old I can't even remember where they came from!!! (it proves if you wait long enough everything will come back into fashion aha)
the necklace is from h&m who have some really affordable statement necklaces in this year, even though it's not the type of thing I'd wear on a daily basis it's nice to have some options!
how's your weekend been?

ps: it's the last week to vote in the cosmo blog awards, if you have a minute I'd love you forever if you dropped a vote my way in category 7!! thanks so much for voting and for generally being the best gang of peeps EVER! (I'm already panicking about what to wear to the awards as I seem to be mostly sporting emulsion paint at the minute.. help!)

another day another nail polish (or two!)
as soon as I think I have every colour another collection of shades pop up to woo me, today it's a couple from orlys latest hope and freedom range I was sent by look fantastic.
created with a festival theme these are the equivalent of boho chic for your nails, I wasn't sure whether they would be bright enough for me but they are really pretty. yes, I've been swayed by feminine pastels and thoughts of summer picnics... I'm a sucker for a theme.
coachella dweller is a lovely minty green quite unlike any other colour I own! the formula is creamy (2 coats for full coverage) without being thick and easy to apply. this is a beautiful spring colour and for a green polish quite sophisticated!
melodious utopia is crazy, I love this one for the surprise element!
it looks yellow on but its bursting with tiny flecks of red glitter that glow when they catch the light. I've tried snapping these in different lights but it's impossible to catch the effect because the glitter is so fine!
the glitter it doesn't affect the smmothness of the polish but you need about 3 coats for good opacity, if you like something a little dfferent this may be a polish for you!
there are other colours in the hope and freedom collection you may want to see for yourselves here. overall I like the feel of this collection now I just need spring to arrive so I can leave my gloves at home...
so what do you think guys?

hey hey, long time no see! I didn't get a chance to post this yesterday so here it is.. 24hrs late aha!
as much as I love to be trend aware I often just wear an outfit because I like it & it appeals to my mood on that particular day.
when the sun came out this week I got a tad carried away with my enthusiasm for spring and threw on a loose vintage blouse, jeans & converse (shock horror I nearly froze my rear off once I stepped outside!)
indoors though this outfit is everything I love. loose, slouchy & waaaay casual it ticked all my favourite boxes for lounging about on my laptop whilst eating crisps.
seriously though spring get a move on..
sincerely
caroline.

I'm not sure whats happened but I seem to have put together a rather smart ensemble? that doesn't happen too often (my mum will be so proud!)
since I'm saving up for my big apple trip next month I'm on a ridiculously tight budget! I've been pulling out my old clothes and putting together outfits I'd clean forgotten about, it's been quite fun actually and definitely helped taking the edge of my shopping withdrawals thus far!
one of my few buys this month has been this cowgirl shirt, I saw a few of them online in the autumn but they have appeared back with a vengeance so I decided to finally embrace my inner cowboy! I'd been harbouring a huge crush on one I'd seen on the dahlia website but I spotted this primark version for a fraction of the price yeeeee haaaaa! (it also comes in cream & navy which some of you may prefer)
I think a embroidered or fringed shirt is the easiest way to incorporate the western trend into your wardrobe, I'm planning on digging out my circa '95 cowboy boots next.. lets go rodeo!

oh my, it's love.
I can't remember the last time I was this excited about the launch of a new collection, I only discovered illamasqua last year and loved it at first try. the launch was a few weeks ago and I've been itching to share these polishes with you! every now and again a nail trend arrives and the last few have left me underwhelmed (leather, concrete & velvet nails? nope not for me!)
I'mperfection is the name of this collection (I'm perfection...get it!) a clever and thought provoking campaign designed to encourage us to embrace our so called 'flaws' rather than hiding behind them. I for one can't wait for the arrival of my summer freckles and a less made up face- this campaign is everything I love! the collection has some striking blushers and lipsticks that you may want to investigate but for me my heart has been well and truly stolen by these pastel critters..
taking inspiration from nature these rather ingenious nail polishes were born! speckled like a birds egg with the same matte finish; these are mini eggs for your fingers! (hello we all love mini eggs right?) these limited edition polishes have had me jumping up and down like an excited school girl.
I think my favourites are mottle (pastel green) fragile (baby pastel blue) and speckle (lilac pastel.)
my least favourite is freckle the nude shade but I've always had a thing for ice cream colours so I'm not surprised this one doesn't appeal to me as much.
I've tried out a simple gradient (ombre) using fragile and speckle which was inspired by the girls at the launch, I think this is my favourite way to wear them!
you can have a look at the collection here! what do you guys think? madness or genius?

I stumbled across this dress when I was hunting out an outfit for christmas; I'm a sucker for a novelty print so it was love at first sight! I bought it online from topshop assuming it was a jersey stretch fabric from the images, I was quite pleased when it arrived because it was a touch dressier than I'd imagined.
now you'll have to excuse my cat ears (another sale find) it was only when I got home it occurred to me that they're perhaps the most impractical headgear ever! I can't exactly see me sporting them in sainsburys so I've put them on because I wanted them to have at least one outing this year.. forgive me!
I'll be switching the car ears for a big fur coat when I leave the house! I've loved the recent snow but my clumsiness combined with patches of ice are a lethal combination!

I can't seem to shake my current love of stripes! I picked up this dress in primark last summer and it's one of my most worn dresses because it's so comfortable and easy to wear (nothing beats a good ol' jersey fabric in my book!)
I was so excited when my parka from the lovely people at mee mee arrived this week, it fits like a dream! I've been harbouring a crush on two tone jackets and have been umm-ing and ahh-ing about getting one for months! I swiftly bookmarked their website as it has a great selection of vintage items too (hurrah!) perfect for a high street/vintage kinda girl.
my latest favourite purchase is my topshop rucksack! my bank balance heaved a sigh of relief as I was able to buy it with some gift vouchers I was given at christmas.. phew thanks mom! I'm slightly addicted to rucksacks; I adore the casual look and they suit me perfectly (..I can fill them up with all my clutter aha!)
