DIY christmas eucalyptus soap

DIY christmas
christmas gift ideas

i adore making soap for a couple of reasons.. one it's super fun and two they make perfect gifts. when it comes to christmas i'm a big advocate of adding in some handmade presents for a more personal touch.. plus making stuff always gets me really excited for the holiday season!

this year i'm sticking to a simple scandinavian feel with all my decorations, lots of neutral colours, natural textures and a whole load of greenery. in keeping with that i decided to make some really easy eucalyptus soaps that i think look v.cute and minimal.

materials you'll need:

eucalyptus leaves

1. chop up your melt and pour base. 1kg will make between 6-10 soaps depending on the size and thickness of your bars.

2. melt half the clear base in a microwave in small heating intervals (check the base every 20 seconds to prevent overheating.)

3. once liquid add in 10 drops of eucalyptus essential oil and stir. you can adjust this amount if you want more/less.

4. pour the liquid soap into the silicone moulds until half full. wait for the soap to begin to set and then push the eucalyptus leaves gently into the surface. (i've used dried not fresh eucalyptus leaves in my bars.)

5. melt the remaining soap base and top up the moulds to sandwich the leaves. this way they 'float' in the middle of the bars.

6. leave to cool and then pop them out of the moulds!

i love how clean and fresh these look... plus it really couldn't be easier when you use a melt and pour base!

if you're tempted to try your hand at making some yourself you might also want to check out my charcoal soap recipe too.
